*Feedback Week* Day 1

I'm looking for suggestions on a few random things... everyday I'm going to ask a question and let me know what you prefer/like/use/recommend.  Thanks in advance for all suggestions :)

Today's question.... What are "must haves" that I need to pack for Florida.  I'm looking for ideas that I'm not going to think of on my own (clothes, toiletries, swimsuits & beach towels - I know that kinda stuff).  I want to be as prepared as possible!  Our plans for the week:  lots of beach time, doing some cooking in our condo and eating out the other half of the time, & checking out some local shopping.  One more thing pertaining to our trip;  Allie has a history of getting car sick.  I'm looking in to buying her those wrist bands for motion sickness, a shade for her window, and queasy pops.  Would you recommend anything else for kids?

  1. Both of the times we have traveled far ( New Orleans and Panama City) we packed a picnic basket filled with all kinds of snacks for both Addison and us, we packed a big 31 bag full of books, coloring books, a few barbie dolls, and movies for Addison. When we traveled to New Orleans we left about 5 am and we stopped in Tennesee for breakfast( and we needed to stretch) and then we were on the road for a few more hours and stopped for lunch, then a stop or two for potty breaks and then we were there by the evening for dinner. When we went to Panama we left at midnight and Addison slept the whole way there ( we had her in pull ups for the trip she was 3) and she woke when we got to Florida in time to eat breakfast and be awake for the 2 hour drive into Florida. Also bring your own Beach toys ( buckets, shovels, etc) they are so expensive to buy down there, we found some cute ones for Addison when we went at the Dollar Store. I hope this helps and if you need anything please let me know.

  2. The last time we went to Florida (while pregnant) we took a 10x10 canopy that we set up on the beach. It was a life saver because it allowed us a place to go to get out of the direct sun light. You're welcome to borrow ours if you'd like. We've only taken 1 trip since having Logan & he was only 10 months old. The best thing we did on that trip was leaving about 7 pm & we drove for a few hours, slept in a hotel, then finished driving the next morning. We lucked out because he slept the entire time we drove through the night & most of the morning since we left early. On our way home, we drove mostly during the day so we stopped more often to let Logan walk around.

  3. We have been to Florida seveal times., it seem to go better when we left about 3 or 4 am in the morning., children are alsleep still then and Allie will more than likely not be as car sick., are on the car ride Allie and Hayden will proabably sleep later., so by 8 you already have 5 hours on the road.

Also a radio for the beach, you can always buy bread, etc there to feed the birds from your condo. Sunscreen of course.

But no matter what you take or forget and wish you had., this is a FUN time for you and your family and dont let little things get in a way of having a GREAT time.

This roadtrip will be a memory for a lifetime, enjoy and have fun

  5. Baby powder gets sand off feet and legs good to have on hand for the kiddos!

  6. An inexpensive blowup pool. That way the lil ones can still play in the water if you're just wanting to take a break on the beach blanket. Carrying lil ones in the ocean the whole time is exhausting! Pick up some trinkets at the Dollar Tree for the kids and wrap them up. Let them open them up every so often on your trip. Def baby powder like Whit mentioned. I also place a basket in the van next to the girls with their things within their reach. Small snacks and drinks in a cooler for the trip.
