Cooking with Krissy
Hayden & Allie went to see a movie with their grandparents last Friday. It was during nap time and Austin went right to sleep, but Krissy has been fighting naps for a few weeks. I decided we'd make some cookies together and she loved it. While I was making the dough she played with some measuring cups and spoons on the floor. When it was time to roll them out, she jumped right in to help :)
She couldn't wait for the icing and decided to go ahead and try her cookies. I'm looking forward to our next baking adventure!

Weekly Happenings: June 20 - June 26
Here's some stuff that happened this past week!
My niece Addison got baptized last Saturday! We were all so excited for her and I offered to make a cake to celebrate afterwards. Addison was so sweet and complimentary of the cake and I was thrilled she liked it!

Krissy and Austin got wrapped in their favorite "ni-night" and "naw-nee".they both just giggled and smiled at each other. They also had a jibberish conversation about dada that I wish I would have gotten on video!
Kevin's Father's Day request was chocolate chip cookies. I keep tweeking the Tollhouse recipe and these tweeks made my favorite version yet!
We had lunch at Christmas Lake then dinner at Hacuenda. No pics from dinner because Krissy and Austin were in melt down mode most of the evening.
A little doe came to see us at CLV
Hayden, Allie, Krissy, and I all ended up with tons of chigger bites! I've never had them before and neither have the kids. They itch like the dickens.
Kevin planned a date night for us in Owensboro. We are anxiously awaiting the reopening of Shylers, but Kevin heard great things about this BBQ place and we decided to give it a try. They are ranked 8th in the nation by Southern Living magazine, they have been voted Kentuckys best BBQ and are the current grill master champions in KY. Quite a reputation!
We both got a combination plate which included 3 kinds of meat and 2 sides for $14.50. I picked a mutton, shredded pork, and ribs. The sides were amazing and I loved two of the three meats! I'd never tried mutton (which is Kevin's favorite) and I wasn't a big fan. But Kevin happily finished what I didn't eat. We both were miserably full when we left.
In the lobby they had a map and you could mark how far you'd traveled for their BBQ. It was amazing to see all the different countries and how many places had been marked!
One evening we took the kids + our neighbor out for ice cream. We like to rotate between snowcones, DQ, and Lics. Lics was where we ended up that evening.
I was able to get a lot of cleaning done this past week. Our bedroom and the hall closet were my goals and they are both clean! When Hayden saw the hall closet, he exclaimed, "You can actually see the floor!" It's sad to say it was really that bad! But it's cleaned and organized now ;)

Weekly Update June 13- June 19
This is a week late, but here is what happened last week!
We started the weekend off with a trip to Christmas Lake with our friends, the Sextons. Everyone fished all afternoon then Kevin grilled for us. Allie got in a little snuggle time with one of her favorite cats!

We stopped at TF in Boonville on the way home.
Monday, the 15th, I had a day full of appointments and meetings. I left early in the morning and didn't get home till late in the afternoon. The alone time was great and productive but I was exhausted when I got home! Kudos to you working moms - not sure how you do it! I had no energy left and did nothing the rest of the evening.
I've been taking the kids with me to the YMCA a couple days a week. I let them play in their splash park for the first time and the two littles weren't as big of fans as the two oldest!
I tried two homemade brownie recipes and neither were great. One was titled "better than boxed" and the other was "the worlds greatest" and neither were was good as a plain ol boxed mix.
I made the girls some hairbows/headbands one evening after the kids went to bed. They were fun to make and I love how they turned out!
Funny story: we were all out front playing and Krissy had been in the garage. She starts screaming bloody murder and I jump up to see what's wrong. She was running to me to tell me there was a snake on her. The "snake" was the tiniest caterpillar/worm thing I had ever seen. She's at the age were she's very scared of bugs and loud noises.
Hayden's been quite the character. He had this get up on all day one day.
In this picture, Allie was playing baby (complete with a pretend paci in her mouth)! Hayden was scratching her back and singing to her.
Austin tried to ride the Barbie moped and that cracked me up!
I'm late blogging because I've been helping plan and create another baby shower. The grandma-to-be was at the last shower I threw and recruited me to help with her daughters upcoming shower. It's such a small world. The mom-to-be turned out to be my moms hair dresser and I had heard all about her pregnancy journey since the beginning. Also our neighbor is the grandma-to-be's cousin. Thrilled to be part of this tutu shower!
And Charlie has been good at keeping me company when I stay up late :)
