Our Easter

Easter looked a little different for us this year!  Usually Sunday morning is a bit chaotic trying to get to Easter service at church on time and then going from one get together to the next.  Our church changed services times and they offered Easter service on Saturday night (which is when we usually go).  Sunday morning was so much more enjoyable this year!

We usually do an egg hunt Saturday, but weather and premade plans made us switch the egg hunt to Sunday morning.  I was also able to make resurrection rolls as well, and usually Easter breakfast isn't that elaborate! 

We dyed eggs Friday night, and I do believe that's a family favorite for everyone.

This was also the first year in the last several years I decided not to make the girls' Easter dresses.  I had already bought a pattern, but saw the cute matchy navy ones at TJ Maxx.  They were $15 each, and I knew I wouldn't be able to make their dresses for that cheap... so I went ahead and bought them! 

Hayden asked this year if the Easter bunny was like Santa Claus, so I explained that yes, it was all the same.  He wanted to hide the eggs, but I told them if he hid eggs, he couldn't hunt them.  He wasn't quite ready to give up the egg hunting, so Kevin hid the eggs.  He's done a really good job not telling the little kids the truth.

We also spent about $5 per kid on Easter baskets.  Usually I would spend $20-40, but Easter fell right during my big purging/house cleaning and I just didn't want more junk in the house.  They each got a Dollar Tree toy (which has since been thrown away) and a little troll.  And they were happy with it!  I don't know why I think I need to go overboard on the holidays because they are so easily pleased with so little.

Easter Pictures from My Camera

I decided it was time to get these Easter pictures off my camera!

We dyed some store bought white eggs a few days before Easter.  After dinner, we had the kids put on their pjs and started coloring them.  Kevin was helpful with the whole process so I could snap some pictures! 

The Saturday before Easter we had our egg hunt.  I wrote about my mishaps sewing their bunny baskets, but I'm glad I did them!

I've got plans to use my real camera several times over the next few weeks, so hip hip hooray for better quality pictures!

Easter 2015

We celebrated Easter the same way we usually do!  Church, Kevin's family get together for lunch and my family get together for dinner.  The day before Easter, we squeezed in an egg hunt, dyed eggs, and I made sugar cookies.  Here are some pictures from the weekend :)

Two of our favorite neighbor girls hid the eggs for the kids while I took them on a walk. 

Krissy wanted to open the eggs as she found them and eat the goodies inside!  And don't judge me for the shoes.  They are her sisters old shoes, and she's wearing them on the wrong feet!

Austin was so tired when it came time to dye eggs, so we went ahead and put him to bed.  Maybe next year he can enjoy it with us!

I had intended to make the girls Easter dresses before our NY trip.  I thought they could wear them to the rehearsal dinner, but I never got around to making them.  I left basically no time to get them done.  I cut my material on Wednesday, and on Thursday I spent the evening sewing them after the kids went to bed, and I stayed up until 4am finishing them.  I had envisioned them monogrammed, so Friday morning I called around to a few local businesses and found one that would do them that day!  (This was Good Friday people, and I didn't even think many business would be open!)  Creative Embroidery in Evansville.  I'd highly recommend them!  They were the sweetest bunch of ladies and did such a great job making my vision a reality! 

After church, my good friend Stephanie offered to take a few family pics for us.  There was a beautiful tree with flowers on it, and we decided it would be the perfect backdrop for pictures.  Normally, I have to deal with one or two kids not looking or making funny faces, but Kevin was the one making funny faces in every picture!  He says he was talking to Austin and trying to get  him to  look forward.  Krissy looks so cute peaking out behind Kevin's leg.  This was the best "family picture" we took all day...

These are our friends Ryan & Stephanie.  She's due with their first baby in July.  Isn't she glowing?

When we got to the cabin, Austin went around and finished food off everyone's plates!  And you can notice how he loses more clothes as the pictures go on!

Krissy and Austin fell asleep when we were headed to my parents house.  They ended up staying asleep and taking an almost 2 hour nap!  It gave them {much needed} energy for egg hunt #3 at my parents house....
