#20

Ever since doing "Am I Messing Up My Kids" by Lysa TerKeurst, and meeting some wonderful women in my DOK class, I've had my eyes opened.  It's easy to take something that was so easy for me and Kevin, like having our 2 kids, for granted.  We had 2 very easy pregnancies and deliveries with the only "complication" being Hayden was 10lbs 6oz.

With that being said, I just saw on facebook this afternoon that the Duggars were expecting their 20th child.  I have so much admiration for that family.  Hayden and I use to watch their show after I put Allie to bed.  He loved it and I did too!  I felt like I got several really good parenting tips from Michelle.  I am amazed at her level of patience - and Jim Bobs too for that matter.  They really have their priorities straight - and I am genuinely happy for them.  They are doing what the Lord has called them to do.  They are being a witness to anyone who watches their show.  They are painting a wonderful picture of what a family that lives for the Lord looks like.  They whole heartedly trust in what the Lord says about providing for their needs.  They believe every child is a blessing.  It's so easy to get caught up in what the world things about kids, but I can't find any fault in their ways.

I read this article several months ago and just really appreciated the truth to its content.  Everyone should read it!  It talks about the worlds view of children.  It really was eye opening.

Here's a link to Michlle and Jim Bob talking about baby #20.

Dan Wheldon

I do not follow any type of racing.  I've heard of Sprint Car, IndyCar, Nascar, etc but I couldn't tell you the difference.  I noticed today one of my facebook friends said something along the lines of "RIP Dan Wheldon, praying for your family."  I just thought it was someone they knew.  Then I saw something on someone else status update about Dan Wheldon.  I decided to google the name and see who it was.  Thousands of recent videos/photos/articles had been posted.  I saw he was an IndyCar driver and died in a car accident this afternoon.

He looked young, so I investigated some more.  He was married to a pretty lady named Susie.  They had 2 sons, Sebastian (2) and Oliver (7 months).  Every story I've read about him talks about what a family man he was.  He was known for his "million dollar smile".  Several people that were interviewed knew him well talked about his witty personality.  I found this website and it's pictures of Sebastian from the time he was born till he turned 2.  There are picture of Sebastian playing with a race car, and pictures of his daddy holding him. The love Dan had for his son speaks words through these pictures.

This was after he won the Indy 500 this year.  Oliver was 2 months old.
I feel so sad for his wife and boys.  I saw several pictures of Susie and Dan where one or the other were wearing a cross necklace.  I hope he knew Jesus and I hope Susie is a Christian and will be able to find peace with his death.  As a mom, I think the hardest part for Susie would be trying to keep the memory of Dan alive for her boys because neither one will probably remember him.  I know kids grow up with out fathers everyday.  It's just a shame a family had to lose someone who seemed to really love that role.  Why couldn't it be a dead beat?  This world needs better fathers and I'm glad my kids have a great dad - and I did too.

Here are some pictures I found of him when I google searched.
