I do this with my students when they come to me with a problem. I'll respond by saying, "How can you solve your problem?" and then it's up to them to tell me a solution instead of me solving the problem for them all the time. I also prompt them to "Make a better choice" if they are doing something silly or not appropriate for the situation. Both make them think rather than having an adult just boss them around.
