Allie's 5th Birthday Recap

Allie woke up at 6:30 the morning of her birthday.  Our routine is to wait and open gifts when they whole family is awake.  She came in my room, grabbed my phone, and went to watch Ninja Turtles on my phone (Hayden was with her too and I think he makes her watch Ninja Turtles!) until we were all in the family room.  I had been up till 2 am finishing her cake and cleaning up the house, so I had a hard time getting out of bed.  But once I knew she was awake, I was so excited to show her the cake and wish her a happy birthday that I couldn't stay in bed!  So I got up and started my day early!

Morning Gift Opening

Everyone was up by 7:30 and she was dying to open her pile of gifts!  She let Krissy open one too.
This was a Cinderella crown and ring
I picked out this pretty dress for her from Target.  It's a tad big, so I'll probably put it back for her to wear next summer!
She has asked for months for this mermaid barbie and I kept telling her wait till her birthday... so she was elated to see her today!

I also got her a princess microphone that was a total hit - but it is already broke!  I think we are just going to exchange it for something else a little more durable!

Hayden made Allie a princess chair and then sang to her and asked her all kinds of funny questions.
Krissy got her turn to sing, too!

 Breakfast time

She requested pancakes for breakfast - and I found this "Happy Birthday" cup at the Dollar Tree and thought she'd love it - and she did :)

Late Morning & Afternoon

We went to run errands in Evansville and she looked the part of  Birthday Princess :)
She put on several concerts for us after lunch.
Another yearly tradition we do is measure the kids on their birthday!  Allie grew almost 3 inches this past year.  She's exactly the same height Hayden was when he turned 5!

Party Time

I had shown Allie her cake this morning but it was put up on top of our China cabinet so no little fingers could touch it.  Right as our guests started showing up, I brought Allie's cake down and she got to really see her for the first time.  I left the cake on a turn table so she could spin her.

Barbie's skirt was chocolate cake with chocolate meringue buttercream (the icing was a new recipe that I didn't really care too much for).

Strawberry princess cupcakes with pink vanilla icing

We had a baked potato bar for dinner.  Toppings included BBQ porkl, cheese sauce, fried bacon, diced ham, sour cream, & broccoli.  It's one of our favorite meals!

Most of the kids at the party - Baby Harper was being held by her momma.

Barbie accessories
Hayden used his muscles to help Allie open a gift.
Cute dress, headband, and lipgloss
Cute dress and makeup
As soon as gifts were opened, the girls went back into the girls room and our neighbor Ali did Krissy & Allie's makeup.  The girls loved it!

Krissy with glitter on her face :)

Sweet cousins
Allie was super excited about her "make over"

And she loved her new stuffed horse

A closer look at Allie's Cinderella cake... the yellow dot on the middle of her skirt was a butterfly that Allie had accidentally broken off.

The pieces of cake were pretty huge!

The party was so much fun!  We love having our house full of family and friends.  As the party wrapped up, we did some pictures of Allie with her guests!
My Allie Elizabeth with our neighbor Ali Elizabeth.  We love her!
Sisters <3
Allie with the Sextons (minus baby Garret who will hopefully be home from the NICU this week!)
Allie with Kevin's parents.
Allie with Aunt Tabi, Eleanor, & baby Harper (Tyler and Addison were at Addison's horse riding lessons).
Allie with my parents
I realized I hadn't made it in any posed pictures so I got out the trusty tripod and fixed that!

And because this post was so long, I'll post her Birthday Interview tomorrow :)  She had several cute answers!

Happy Birthday Allie

Happy Birthday Allie!!!

My sweet Allie turns 5 years old today.  I feel so privileged to be her momma.  She's beautiful, funny, and honest.  She loves any animal with fur.  She loves to shop.  She loves anything "princess".  She calls her hair "blondies".  She plays baby dolls and barbie dolls daily.  She prefers to wear dresses.

I'm so thrilled I was able to do a little photoshoot with Allie on Monday.  It was fun having some time to ourselves, to dress up, and to act goofy {to get her natural smile to come out}.  I hope you enjoy the pics (and there's a lot!) just as much as I do!

When Allie was just a baby I had seen on Pinterest a picture of a little girl photographed in her mom's wedding dress.  The idea stole my heart and I couldn't wait to take pictures of my girl (and Krissy too when she's 5) in my dress.  I didn't want to do these pictures when she was a baby because I wanted her little personality to come out + be little enough to look like a little girl + be old enough to not trash the dress.  5 seemed like the perfect age... and some of these pictures I captured are my all time favorites of her :)

And we went back to her white dress to finish taking pictures!

(This is Allie's verse that I picked out for her when she was little)

(she was twirling - hints the blurry arm)

And we had just gone to a new part of the garden when she said she had to go potty - so the photo shoot ended promptly :)

Check back for a birthday interview + pictures from her birthday!
